Miami County Jail Information and Inmate Search

The Miami County Detention Facility is located in Peru, Indiana. The current facility opened in 2010 and has the capacity to house 244 inmates. Tiffany Hostetler is the Jail Commander and Kim Brown is the Matron.

The rosters of most Indiana jails are available online at VineLink. These are searchable by an inmate’s name or ID number. Information provided includes inmates’ demographic and identifying details, booking, arrest, charge, and bond information, arresting agency and location, and mugshots, when available.

How to Send Mail or Package

Personal mail to inmates must be written on originally purchased white lined paper and written in blue or black ink or pencil or typed. Only pictures no larger than 5×7” are accepted. Mail must not include any foreign substances, crayon, marker, stickers, glitter, blue, tape, whiteout, excessive perfume, drawings or artwork, among other things. Magazines, newspapers, and books are accepted, but only when shipped directly from the publisher. Books must be softcover.

Inmates’ commissary accounts are operated by Access Corrections. Deposits may be made to these accounts at their website.

Visitation Hours

Inmates may have one 20 minute visit per week. Each visitor over the age of 18 must have an ID and be on the inmate’s visitor list. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Visitation is held daily except for Wednesday between the hours of 8am and 8:30pm. The last visit of the day must begin by 8pm.

Miami County Sheriff Information

The Miami County Sheriff’s Office operates the county jail. The current Sheriff is Timothy S. Hunter and the Chief Deputy is Dave Vitek. The staff also includes 5 sergeants and 11 deputies. The office is open from 8am-4pm Monday through Friday.

Requests may be submitted in person or by telephone, fax, mail, or email. Government agencies have 24 hours to reply to requests submitted in person or by telephone and 7 days to submit to all other requests. Copies of records may incur a fee of $.10 per printed page.
