LaPorte County Jail Information and Inmate Search
The LaPorte County Jail is located in LaPorte, Indiana and operated by the local Sheriff’s Office. A five story addition to the Security Complex was constructed in 2002. The current inmate capacity is 368 and the average daily population is 306. The building site is on the site of the old Schafer’s Laundry. The Jail Commander is Captain Andrew Hahn. The Assistant Jail Commanders are Lieutenants Steve Oliver and Jeff Holt. The Administrative Coordinator is Jeanne Crosslin and the Administrative Assistant is Sarah Fish.

How to Send Mail or Package
Personal mail to inmates must include the sender’s full name and return address. If included on an address label, the label will be removed before the mail is delivered. Mail should be written in blue or black ink or pencil or typed. It may include up to 10 pictures. Other prohibited items include: computer generated or Polaroid photographs; currency; drawing or wording on the envelope, aside from address and return address; tape, stickers, adhesives, glitter, crayon, marker, colored ink, perfume, lipstick, staples; blank paper, envelopes, stamps, games, coloring book pages; greeting cards with pockets, wraps, electronics, or excessive glue, glitter, or construction. Newspapers and books must be sent directly from the publisher (bookstores, such as Amazon or Barnes and Noble, are not acceptable). Mail should be addressed as follows:

Money may be deposited into an inmates’ commissary account online at Tiger Commissary or through the kiosk in the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office lobby. The kiosk accepts cash and credit/debit cards. The jail does not accept cash at the counter. Cashier’s check or money orders may be mailed directly to inmates at the address provided above. Commissary orders are placed at 6:00 am every Friday. Visits last 20 minutes.
