The Porter County Jail is located in Valparaiso, Indiana and operated by the local Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s office employs over 170 workers, including the jail staff. The jail houses over 400 inmates daily.

How to Send Mail or Package

Electronic messages and photos may be sent to inmates in the Porter County Jail through Gettingout.com. Contact the jail for more information about personal mail sent through the US Postal Service.

There are multiple ways to deposit money into inmate commissary accounts. Money orders made out to the inmate may be sent via mail. A Stellar Teller kiosk is available in the jail lobby. Funds may be deposited electronically at Gettingout.com. The Inmate Trust Fund Supervisor is Sergeant Paul Sciarra.

Visitation Hours

Visitation at the county jail is managed via GettingOut by Telmate. Visits may be held onsite or remotely, from any internet-enabled device with a camera (i.e. computer, tablet, smartphone). To schedule a visit with an inmate, go to their website or use the kiosk in the jail lobby. Appointments should be scheduled one day in advance. Scheduling requires creating an account with Telmate. Visitation times vary, depending on classification and housing unit.

Remote visitation hours are daily from 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM; 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM; and 6:30 PM – 10:00 PM. For questions about video visitation at the Porter County Jail, call (866) 516-0115, and select option 2.
