The Scott County Security Center is a county jail located in Scottsburg, Indiana. It is a 200 bed facility that processes approximately 1,350 bookings each year. It houses male and female inmates with felony or misdemeanor charges.

How to Send Mail or Package

Personal mail to inmates must have the sender’s first and last name and complete return address on the envelope. No packages are accepted, including books. Books may not be shipped from an individual sender or from any outside source.

Money orders made out to inmates may be sent through the mail. Funds may also be deposited 24/7 at a kiosk in the jail lobby. There is a $3.25 transaction fee for cash deposits and a 10% charge for credit and debit transactions.Money can also be added to inmates accounts online at the Inmate Sales website.

Visitation Hours

Each inmate is allowed one 20-minute visit per week. Visitation is Monday-Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Specific times are based on an inmate’s assigned housing unit or cell block. Visits should be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance on the Inmate Sales website. Visitors should arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to the scheduled visit to sign in. Adult visitors must be on the visitation list, but children under the age of 18 do not need to be listed. They must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who is on an inmate’s list. A birth certificate, social security card, or legal papers should be provided for minor visitors.

Scott County Sheriff Information

The county jail is operated by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office. The current Sheriff is Jerry Goodin and the Chief Deputy is Toby Deaton. The staff also includes Major Joe Guarneri, Lieutenant Shawn Mayer, Detectives Paul Clute, Jr and Jacklyn Shofner, and Deputies Donald Spicer, Joseph Johnson, Johnny Coomer, John Hartman, Skylar Thompson, Josh Juliot, and Zach Brown. The administrative office is open from Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 4:30pm.
