The Floyd County Jail is located in New Albany, Indiana. It is a 234 bed facility that has been recently renovated. The jail houses pre-trial detainees and some sentenced state offenders.

How to Send Mail or Package

Personal mail to inmates of the Floyd County jail is scanned by Securus Technologies and then sent to inmates electronically. Mail sent directly to the jail from a different third party is not accepted. Personal mail may not include newspaper or magazine material, books, lewd or graphic materials, or anything else that might be considered contraband. Personal mail should be addressed to:

Money may be added to inmates’ accounts in several ways. Cash is accepted in the jail lobby during normal operating hours. A 24/7 kiosk in the lobby accepts cash and cards. The kiosk charges a transaction fee. Cards may be used to deposit money into inmates’ accounts online at the website of Tiger Accounting. There is a service fee for this method. Money orders and cashier’s checks for $100 or less may be mailed to inmates at the following address:

Visitation Hours

Inmates receive 1 free 30-minute onsite visit per month. These are scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays by availability. All visitors must provide the name or ID number of the inmate they’d like to visit and their contact information when scheduling and are required to bring a valid photo ID to the facility at the time of the visit.

Video visitations may also be scheduled Monday through Friday from 8am to 9:30pm, Saturday from 8am-11:30am and 5:30pm-9:30pm, and on Sundays from 12pm-5pm and 8:30pm-10pm. Video visitation is operated by Securus Technologies and must be scheduled on their website at least 24 hours in advance. There is a charge for these visits and the visits are monitored.

Floyd County Sheriff Information

The local Sheriff’s Office operates the Floyd County jail. The current Sheriff is Steve Bush and Chief Deputy Jeff Firkins is the Administrative Division Commander. Colonel Scott Evans is the Operations Division Commander and oversees the Corrections section of the department. The department lobby is open from 8:00am – 4:00pm Monday – Friday.
