The Decatur County Jail was built in 1979 and has since undergone renovations. A second building, the former Washington School on South Ireland Street, houses the Sheriff’s Office, 911 dispatch, and a work release facility that houses male and female inmates.

Visitation Hours

Inmate visitation is conducted by video, either from onsite video kiosks in the Sheriff Office’s lobby or remotely. Onsite visits are available Monday through Friday from 8am-4pm, excluding holidays. Remote visits may be scheduled online. All visits are 20 minutes long and scheduled one the half hour. Visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Visits may be made by the approved adult visitor and accompanying minors. Visits may be booked (and remote visits paid for) online at the InmateSales website, which requires an account.
