The Lake County Jail is located in Crown Point, Indiana. The facility can hold 1,085 inmates. The Sheriff’s Work Release Center can house another 100 male and female inmates. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division employs 170 merit correction officers who manage the jail. The Work Release Center employs 25 Custody Officers. The Warden is Todd Wasmer.

How to Send Mail or Package

Books may be sent to inmates directly from Amazon. They must be softcover. Newspapers and magazines must be sent directly through the publisher.

Money may be added to inmates’ commissary accounts through a kiosk in the jail lobby. The kiosk accepts cash and credit cards and is available 24 hours a day. The Sheriff’s Office also accepts money orders for commissary from Monday through Friday from 8am to 9pm and on Saturdays during visitation.

Visitation Hours

Visitors must have a valid photo ID and be on the inmate’s visitor list. Visitors must be checked in 30 minutes before the end of visiting. Visiting hours reflect normal hours of operation. Visits should be scheduled and booked online at gettingout.com.
