How to Send Mail or Package

Personal mail to inmates at Elkhart Correctional Facility is handled by a third-party provider that scans and then destroys the mail, then sends the scans to inmates to view on tablets or kiosks.

Books and magazines should be shipped directly to the jail from one of the following sources: HarperCollins Publishers, Hamilton Books, Book Outlet.com, Simon and Schuster, Christian Book.com, Sureshot Books, Artscroll, or Nolo. Up to 5 books may be sent at one time.

Money may be added to an inmate’s account as a kiosk in the jail lobby, which accepts cash, credit, or debit cards. The kiosk charges a $3.75 transaction fee for every $100 deposited. Money may also be added to an inmate’s account online, through JailATM. This requires setting up an account using an email address.

Visitation Hours

Inmates may have 1 visit per day. The weekly number of visits is subject to the inmate’s classification and officers at the front desk can provide visitors with this information. All visitors are required to have a photo ID, and those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. For onsite visits, multiple visitors can attend, but only 1 adult and 1 child will be allowed in the visitation booth at a time. Visits should be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance and can be held from 8am to 4pm any day the lobby is open.

Remote visits may be held Monday through Sunday from 9:30am to 9:30pm. There is a fee of $6.95 per 20 minute visit and $13.90 per 40 minute visit. Visitors may subscribe to unlimited remote visitation for $19.99 per month. These may be scheduled online through Securus Tech’s website and held on any internet-enabled device with a camera.
