Visitation Hours

Newton County inmates may have one onsite visit per week. Visits last 30 minutes. All visitors must show photo ID and minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Onsite visits are held Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM – 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM – 3:30 PM. Remote visitation is also available through HomeWAV and may be held on any internet-enabled device with a camera. A HomeWAV account is required to schedule and pay for remote visitation. All visits, onsite and remote, must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.

The county jail is operated by the Newton County Sheriff’s Office. Shannon Cothran is the Sheriff and Bobbi Falhive is the administrative assistant. The office is open from 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday.

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office provides an Indiana Access to Public Records (APRA) request form online. Requestors should provide their name and contact information, as well as a detailed description of the records provided. Requests may be submitted in person, by mail, fax, or email. A fee of $8 is collected for each record requested under APRA.
