Jay County Sheriff Information

The Jay County Jail, or Security Center, is operated by the local Sheriff’s Office. The current Sheriff is Larry Ray Newton Jr. and the Chief Deputy is Ben Schwartz. In addition to the Corrections Division, Jay County Sheriff’s Office also has an Investigations Division (Captain Patrick Wells and Lieutenant Tony Lennartz), a Communications Division in charge of dispatch, and a Patrol Division. Sergeant Derek Bogenschutz is the supervisor of Uniform Patrol, which includes 8 officers.
